‘There is no limit to what we, as women, can accomplish.’  - Michelle Obama

Happy International Women's Day from all at KNOMO.

Post pandemic life in the UK has seen unemployment rates rise and that is why for international women's day, we sent a selection of our bags over to Smart Works Reading

A volunteer led organisation, based in the Thames Valley that assists marginalised women into employment through supplying office appropriate workwear, accessories, and interview coaching.

Smart Works is founded on the premise of supporting and empowering women through life's crucial moments. Clients are referred to the charity through various organisations including youth care, mental health services, refugee centres and homeless shelters.

The success of the organisation speaks for itself. Since opening their doors in 2015, they have provided over 1800, dressing and coaching sessions, assisting over 730 clients into employment. In the past year alone, 70% of the women who were supported by smart works were successful in finding employment.

‘Our free service incorporates a two-hour appointment, during which each beneficiary receives a high-quality work outfit and 1-2-1 interview coaching. Once our client gets the job, we provide additional free workwear in the form of a 10-piece capsule wardrobe which she can mix and match to see her through to her first pay cheque and coaching to help her thrive in her new role.

In the past two years, we have developed a hybrid online and in-person service to support women through the pandemic. Coaching is now available to all female job seekers, not just those with a confirmed interview, so we can help when it is most needed.’
Anna Fowler – Development and Fundraising Manager at Smart Works Reading.

Smart Works provides their clients with an invaluable opportunity, where women can find their confidence, hone their skillset, and reignite their self-belief. You can support the charity by donating clothes, making a financial contribution, or volunteering your time. If you know someone who could benefit from their services, you can refer someone in a few simple steps with the possibility of transforming their life.
